7. The Present Continuous Tense I

The present continuous tense is made with:

is/are + verb + ing
is           standing
are         writing

1.  What is the girl doing?
     She is reading a book.

2. What are the boys doing?
     They are playing football.

3. What is the teacher doing?
    He is cleaning the blackboard.

4.  What are the cats doing?
     They are climbing the tree.

5.  What is the man doing?
    He is eating an apple.

6.  What are the children doing?
     They are walking across the road.


  1. The horse is jumping over the wall.
  2. I am learning English now.
  3. The woman is carrying her baby.
  4. The boys are going to school.
  5. The old man is drinking a cup of tea.
  6. Two policemen are standing outside the bank.
  7. The servant is washing the floor.
